Could you judge the quality of a song just by looking at it?
A concept that has intrigued me for some time is the idea of being able to judge a song's quality visually rather than aurally. Time signature changes, chord progressions, solos, breaks - could these things be represented visually? What would "Here's Johnny" by Hocus Pocus look like alongside Jethro Tull's "Thick as a Brick"? I think this could work quite well as an exhibition - print out the visualisation and place a pair of headphones in front of it and challenge the user to follow the song one block at a time.
This project is still in its infancy, these are the only 2 visualisations produced so far.
